From Wireframes to Launch: My UX Process for Designing Websites That Convert
A website shouldn’t just exist, it should work.
Too many websites are built around aesthetics first. The result? Beautiful layouts that don’t convert, confuse users, or hide important information.
Good UX fixes that.
Here’s the process I use when designing websites for clients.
Step 1 — Discovery
Before any design, we define:
- Business goals
- Target audience
- Key actions (enquiries, sales, sign-ups)
Without this, design is guesswork.
Step 2 — Structure & wireframes
I map user flows and create wireframes first. No colours. No styling. Just structure.
This stage focuses on:
- Clear hierarchy
- Logical navigation
- Friction-free journeys
If it works in black and white, it will work when designed.
Step 3 — Visual design
Once the structure is solid, I introduce branding, typography, and layout systems.
The goal is clarity, not clutter.
Every element should support the content, not compete with it.
Step 4 — Build & optimisation
Sites are built in WordPress or Webflow with:
- Fast performance
- Accessibility best practices
- SEO foundations
- Mobile-first design
Step 5 — Iterate
Launch isn’t the finish line. We refine based on real usage.
Small improvements compound into big results.
